Back! For now, at least.
Hello, Xanga world! Sorry for the long absence...I have certainly missed your mumblings, musings, and thoughts on life. This entry is just a brief one, though. I can't promise that I'll be back frequently, but I thought it'd be nice to just put something new besides the sombrero picture on my page.

The quick run-down: I'm getting married in less than 3 months (
but also
--and wow, I just realized that we've been together for 5 years now), and work has been going well. I'm still where I've been for the past few years, and it's been a good job where I've grown and been given more responsibility. I'm back on Xanga b/c of the latter...So we just published a book, Threshold Resistance, by A. Alfred Taubman, former head of Sotheby's, Detroit-area local hero, and "luxury retailing pioneer" (he founded a luxury shopping development center, which owns, among others, the Mall at Short Hills, NJ; Stamford Town Square, CT; Fair Oaks Mall, in Fairfax, VA; Beverly Center, Los Angeles; and the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, MI). He's a very wealthy and connected man, so of course for the launch of his book, his other affluent and well-connected friends threw him a book party at the Four Seasons. And since I was fortunate enough to have worked on this book, I was invited.
In between the drinks and hors d'ouevres, the other assistants and I people-watched and ducked away from the various cameras that were around. Not sure what they were filming or photographing for, but I'm sure the numerous other powerful people and socialites there were probably better subjects than us. We were probably among people with 1,000x our net worth, but sadly, not recognizing any faces makes that realization more underwhelming. That is, until we saw...
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Trump! I was 20 feet away, across the room, from the Donald, his hair, and the lovely Melania! Not exactly "faint-worthy," per se, but still a fun highlight of the evening. In case you were wondering, she is really beautiful, and his hair is really its own being, recognizable from behind and across the room. We stared for like 15 seconds, and then turned back to our Gruyere cheese balls and tuna tartare with caviar (the latter of which, if you know me, you know I didn't eat).
Have a great day.
